Mission walks to raise awareness of intimate partner violence

Purple Lights Nights walk goes from SARA For Women Office to Mission Friendship Centre

A community walk in Mission on Saturday (Oct. 26) raised awareness for services and resources available for those experiencing intimate partner violence in the area.

The walk was part of the Purple Lights Nights campaign, which was launched earlier in October by the Abbotsford/Mission Violence Against Women in Relationships committee. The campaign has featured events in both cities throughout the month of October.

Participants in the community walk strolled from the SARA For Women office on 5th Avenue to the Mission Friendship Centre on First Avenue, with a stop at Mission Community Services Society for water.

"The walk ended with great conversations and hearing lived experiences at the Mission Friendship Centre," a post on the campaign's Facebook page reads.
