A large Lincoln Vantage welder was stolen from a construction site on Lougheed Highway near Mission last weekend.

According to a Mission RCMP release, the theft occurred near Hawkins Pickle Road and the welder was taken to a rural property on Holly Road in Agassiz.

The Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at the Agassiz property on May 28 because of officer safety concerns. However, the welder was no longer there.

Those with information are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.

The theft was one of 286 calls for service for the detachment from May 27 to June 2.

On May 29, Mission RCMP issued a driving prohibition and towed the vehicle of an impaired driver.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Mounties received reports of a possible impaired driver stopped on the train tracks on London Avenue.

Officers discovered the vehicle nearby on Beatty Drive and the driver showed signs of drug use. Police say he performed poorly on a series of roadside sobriety tests.

Meanwhile, an intoxicated man was arrested after causing a disturbance at a Mission grocery store on May 28.

Staff called RCMP and police saw the man trying to start a fight with staff and security.  The man was reportedly upset because only two check-outs were open.

He was arrested and held overnight at the Mission detachment.
