Lougheed Highway in Mission between Murray Street and Stave Lake Street will be reduced to single-lane alternating traffic from Friday night (July 12) to Tuesday morning (July 16).

Lougheed Highway between Murray Street and Stave Lake Street in Mission will be limited to a single lane later this week as work to reduce truck traffic continues.

The lane closure will lead to single-lane-alternating traffic in that area from 7:30 p.m. on Friday (July 12) until next Tuesday (July 16) at 5 a.m.

According to a news release from the province on Tuesday (July 9), the work is necessary to stabilize the slope on the bank below the highway.

"The complexity of the project requires the lane to be closed over multiple days," the news release reads.

A construction-zone speed limit will be in effect during the works.  The province says drivers can expect delays and should plan extra time or choose an alternative route.
