Mission paddler claims six medals

Mission's Ann Mohs (left) was part of a clean sweep by Canada in the V1 70+ Women's 500 m Sprint at the International Va’a Federation (IVF) World Sprint Championships in Hawaii last month. 

Mission's Ann Mohs took home six medals at the International Va’a Federation (IVF) World Sprint Championships in Hawaii last month. 

The outrigger has been racing canoes for almost a decade and participated in the IVF World Championships for the first time in 2016.

This year in Hilo, Hawai'i, her two Team Canada crews took two golds, two silvers and a bronze, while Mohs added another silver in her 70+ Elite V1 race against 24 other racers.

The championships ran from Aug. 13 to 23 with 2,885 paddlers young and old representing 27 nations. A total of 495 races took place with Canada ranked 4th place overall. 

Mohs previously won gold at her first-ever V1 World competition at Dorney Lake, GB, finishing her 75+ Elite V1 500m Sprint race 29 seconds ahead of second place.
