It was truly a case of golfing until you drop for a group for B.C. PGA golfers.
Golfers Ryan Tofani, Dylan Nickel, Kaleb Fisher, Kathy Stecyk, Alex Walker and Emery Bardock all took part in the PGA of B.C.’s ‘Golfathon for ALS’ fundraiser on June 24 in Chilliwack. The six golfers teed-off at the early hour of 6:45 a.m. where they played for almost 15 hours finishing a collective 101 holes.
The event marked the fourth year of the Chilliwack Golf Club’s participation during which they have raised over $17,000 towards ALS research. The club raised just north of $4,000 at this year’s running – 85 per cent of their target goal of $5,000.
“A big thanks to all of our Chilliwack Golf Club members, family and friends for their donations to this great cause,” said Tofani. "It was an amazing day out there with lots of laughs and even a few good golf shots.
"Very proud of the team at Chilliwack for their continued fundraising efforts. We are proud to take part in this fantastic initiative every year and we look forward to breaking our number of holes played next season.”
This was the 19th annual Golfathon for ALS, and Chilliwack Golf Club was one of the 36 facilities from across the province to participate. Since 2005, the PGA of B.C. has raised over $2.5 million to benefit thousands of people affected by ALS in B.C and the Yukon.
The organization is calling on donations to help them hit their $5,000 target by the end of the year. Donations can be made on the PGA of B.C. website.
