A display of creativity, athleticism and camaraderie is coming to Mission this weekend.
Landyachtz, a pioneer in the skateboarding industry, will host the third stop of the Pump Track Skateboard Challenge series on Sunday (Aug. 18) at the Griner Park Pump Track in Mission.
Top local skateboarding talents will have an opportunity to showcase their skills during the event.
“The Pump Track Skateboard Challenge promises to be an exhilarating display of skill and style, bringing together riders from across the province to compete in various categories,” a news release reads.
The pump track is designed to challenge riders with its turns and obstacles, providing participants with a chance to flex their speed and control.
Landyachtz vice president Ryan Theobald says it’s exciting to host the Pump Track Skateboard Challenge at Griner Park in Mission.
"Racing on pump tracks is exciting for participants and spectators and it appeals to all styles of skateboarders. Pump Tracks are a great place for riders to improve their abilities and confidence, the event provides a platform for riders to showcase their skills. We can't wait to see the incredible talent on display and see who's got the fastest lap,” Theobald said.
The challenge will feature riders racing the clock to set their fastest lap, qualifying for a top 10 shoot-out. The fastest lap of the day in each category will take home a cash prize.
The event is slated for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, at 32835 Cherry Ave.
