Maharaja’s menu boasts classics like prawn, lamb or goat curry, butter chicken and vegetarian dishes like palak channa and aloo gobi – all fresh and authentically prepared.

When Amit Sachdev opened his Maharaja in Mission restaurant in November 2022, he was following family footsteps that lead back generations.

“My grandfather was the first in the family to open his own restaurant, my father and uncle own the other Maharaja location in Surrey, and my younger brother and I are partners here in Mission, but our family has been working in the restaurant industry in some way for five generations!” Sachdev says.

Maharaja in Mission offers an authentic Indian dining experience, serving a refined and eclectic menu that is also healthy and vibrant, in a restaurant with a unique cultural decor.

“We serve food from the northern Indian region of Punjab,” Sachdev says. “The word maharaja means ‘king’ in Punjabi, and that’s how we treat our customers – like kings.”

Maharaja boasts eat-in, take-out and catering menus with classics like prawn, lamb or goat curry, butter chicken and vegetarian dishes like palak channa and aloo gobi – all fresh and authentically prepared. Their biryani special is vegetable, chicken, lamb or prawn infused with aromatic biryani spices and saffron.

“Our specialty biryani dishes and butter chicken are very popular,” Sachdev says. “People really love them, and once they’ve tried them, they keep coming back for more.”

Happy diner Lesley agrees: “The long-awaited Maharaja Indian restaurant in Mission does not disappoint. The food is delicious and it’s properly done with marinated meats and sauces spiced to perfection. Highly recommended!”

The dessert menu features authentic items like kheer katori (rice pudding), paan kulfi (frozen milk dessert) and gulab jamun (deep-fried pastry balls) and more.

“The restaurant is supplied with fresh, organic tomatoes and garlic from my own farm,” Sachdev says. “Our catering service features food prepared on-site in a traditional tandoor oven, and we’re in the process of setting up a commercial kitchen in Surrey with a steam kettle, to supply both locations with healthy food, prepared with no oil and trans fats.”

Marahaja is one of Vancouver’s premier Indian catering companies, offering quality services for all occasions, including weddings, anniversaries and conventions, and they’re proud to have been able to also serve at local charitable events.
