For four decades, Dasmesh Punjabi School has stood as a powerful symbol of educational excellence, cultural preservation and community empowerment in the Fraser Valley.
Today, as the school celebrates its 40th anniversary, it invites the broader community to be part of a historic initiative: “40 for 40 Years,” a visionary fundraiser dedicated to building a stronger future for generations to come.
A proud legacy during Sikh Heritage Month
As Canada celebrates Sikh Heritage Month this April, there's no better time to recognize and uplift institutions that have played a vital role in shaping the Sikh community in Western Canada – institutions like Dasmesh Punjabi School, which champions the teaching of Sikh values, Punjabi language and culture, all while providing a top-tier education.
The not-for-profit, independent, K-12 school has helped shape thousands of young minds through its history – not just academically, but spiritually, ethically and socially, empowering students to lead with compassion, integrity and cultural pride. What better way to honour this month than by giving back to the very institution that has given so much to the Sikh community?
A not-for-profit, Sikh faith-based school with a purpose
As a Group 1 Independent School in B.C., the Sikh faith-based Dasmesh Punjabi School receives just 50 per cent of the per-student funding public schools receive, and no government support for critical infrastructure or facility improvements.
Despite these funding limitations, the school maintains one of the most affordable tuition structures among independent schools in the region, ensuring that education rooted in Sikh values remains accessible to all families, regardless of income.
By donating, you’re not just supporting a school – you’re sustaining a legacy.
The '40 for 40 Years' campaign: $400,000 for Phase 1 facility upgrades
To mark its incredible 40-year milestone, the school's “40 for 40 Years” campaign aims to raise $400,000 in Phase 1 to upgrade the library, athletic facilities, gym and outdoor track. After all, not only do Dasmesh Punjabi School students consistently outperform in academics, they've also earned recognition in basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton and track and field.
The school also plans to introduce wrestling, lacrosse and softball to broaden its athletic programming, and donations will directly support these expansions.
The goal is simple: 40 donors pledging $10,000 each to leave a lasting impact. But every donation counts, and the community is encouraged to give what they can through these meaningful tiers:
- $10,000 – Leave a lasting Impact
- $4,000 – Be a champion
- $400 – Be a Falcon friend
- $40 – Show your support
Why donate? Here's what your support means
Whether you're an individual, a local family, a small business or a corporation, giving to Dasmesh Punjabi School is more than a donation – it’s an investment in future leaders, a commitment to culture, and a legacy that lasts.
- Invest in future Sikh and Canadian leaders – support students who are growing into tomorrow’s professionals, entrepreneurs and civic leaders
- Support a not-for-profit school making a big difference – help ensure tuition remains affordable for all families
- Make a charitable impact – because all contributions to the school are tax-deductible, you can give to a cause you care about and support your bottom line
- Promote physical and mental well-being – new athletic and learning spaces will support student health, wellness and engagement, encouraging physical activity, teamwork and a deeper connection to school and community
- Gain recognition and leave a legacy – major donors will be publicly recognized and may receive naming rights, donor plaques, or special mentions in publications, events and within the school, whether in your name, your family’s name, or your business’s name.
- Show corporate social responsibility – for local businesses and larger corporations, this is a high-impact initiative that demonstrates your commitment to youth, diversity and community-building, all while enhancing your brand’s visibility and reputation.
- Celebrate Sikh Heritage Month in a meaningful way – What better way to honour your heritage than by giving back to the institution that has preserved and promoted Sikh language, culture and faith for 40 years?
