About $25,000 was raised for Mission Association for Community Living (MACL) at its inaugural gala fundraiser on June 14.

"The first annual gala was fantastic," said MACL executive director Dawn Hein, adding the sold out event was beautifully decorated.

Guests were entertained with a hula dance performance during dinner and a baby parrot posed for photos at the tiki hut photo booth. Top City, an 11-person band, provided tunes to dance to at the party.

Money raised from summer-themed fundraiser will support programs and services for adults and children with intellectual disabilities at MACL.

Organizers are already planning next year's event.
