Abbotsford man sentenced to house arrest for possessing child porn

Jeremy Willms receives four-month conditional sentence

An Abbotsford man has been sentenced to a four-month conditional sentence (house arrest) after previously pleading guilty to a charge of possessing child pornography.

Jeremy Willms, 44, also received two years of probation during sentencing Dec. 12 in Abbotsford provincial court.

A second charge of making child porn available was stayed.

Willms was charged in December 2017 after Abbotsford Police major crime detectives received information in April of that year that an internet subscriber had uploaded child sexual abuse material online.

A search warrant was executed at Willms’ home, where various computer devices and cellphones were seized.

Subsequent search warrants were acquired, and evidence of child exploitation materials was located, police said at the time.

A conditional sentence means that an offender does not serve any jail time, but must abide by certain conditions. These usually include remaining in their home during certain hours unless they are working, attending school or church, or going to a medical appointment.
