Agassiz RCMP seek info on fraud, theft suspect

Suspect allegedly stole wallet from shopping cart

The Agassiz RCMP are investigating a case of theft and fraud, seeking the public's help to identify a suspect. 

On June 14, the Agassiz RCMP responded to a report of theft and fraud. Surveillance footage showed a male suspect entering a Save-On Foods in Chilliwack on the 45000 block of Luckakuck Way at about 9 a.m. The RCMP observed him allegedly stealing a wallet from the victim's shopping cart. 

The suspect allegedly used the victim's cards to make purchases across multiple jurisdictions, including Chilliwack and Langley.

The RCMP describe the suspect as a male with a large build, dark/olive skin with a round or partial beard, wearing a dark grey or black Nike cap, Air Jordan Jumpman black hoodie, tight-fitting dark blue ripped jeans and white sneakers.

If you suspect you've been a victim of fraud, the RCMP recommends the following steps: 

1. Contact your local RCMP and file a report.

2. Contact your bank or financial institution and your credit card company. 

3. Contact the two national credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your credit reports. Equifax Canada can be contacted at 1=-800-464-7166 and TransUnion Canada can be reached at 1-8777-525-3823. 

4. Contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or file a report online at antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
