A driver suffered critical injuries in a single-car crash Friday afternoon (Feb. 24) in Abbotsford.

Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said the collision took place at about 2:30 p.m. on South Parallel Road just west of the Fraserglen Golf Course.

He said the driver was the only occupant of the car, and the cause of the crash is not yet known.

Highway 1 was temporarily closed between Whatcom Road and Sumas Way while an air ambulance was on scene, but it has since reopened.

Walker said South Parallel Road will be closed for several hours between Sumas Way and Whatcom Road while investigators are on scene. No further details are available at this time.
