A bear was sighted in central Abbotsford early Tuesday morning.

At 3:47 a.m., someone called 911 and reported seeing a bear walking west on George Ferguson Way, near Garden Street.

Two patrol cars searched the area until 5:30 a.m. but did not find a bear, according to Const. Ian MacDonald.

He said the caller may have been mistaken or the bear could have left the area.

MacDonald said it’s unusualy to see bears in that part of town but sightings are much more common in east Abbotsford.
