Brandon Kealey is the latest person to announce their intention to run for Mission council in October.

Born and raised in Mission, Kealey said he was one of the last people to be born at Mission Memorial Hospital.

“My family came to Mission in the 1960s, having previously lived in the surrounding area. Living in this great town my whole life, I can say that I wasn’t just raised here in the community, I was raised by it.”

Kealey said “one of the greatest strengths I would bring to council is lived experience, knowing first-hand the struggles every day people in Mission are going through day in and day out, as well as having a good sense of the community’s needs having been here all my life.”

Affordability is one his biggest concerns.

“I was raised by a single mother, which allowed me to better understand the challenges young families of all types face just trying to get by. And as a young tradesperson, I know personally the difficulties and expenses of having to commute into Metro Vancouver everyday in order to earn a living, Kealey stated.

He said he believes Mission needs to look into expanding local businesses, deal with increasing traffic congestion, and collaborate with the province to build up the hospital as well as the local healthcare system altogether.

“I look forward to speaking with my neighbours and everyone in Mission over the coming months so I can listen to the concerns of Mission residents.”
