Carol Hamilton is seeking a third term on Mission city council.

She announced her decision earlier this week.

“I’m invested in Mission, having lived here for 47 years. I worked for 34 years in banking, all of those years in Mission,” said Hamilton, adding she believes experience is a huge asset and she has that experience.”

Hamilton has served eight years on council and nine years as a trustee on the Mission School Board. She has also been a director on the Fraser valley Regional District board for the past four years.

“I believe continuity on council is important. The current council has gone through the process of updating and establishing several master plans. The next council will want to see that these plans are implemented and the work begins,” said Hamilton.

She feels her involvement with council over the past eight years gives her a good grasp and understanding of the work ahead, noting that with growth comes challenges and at the rate Mission is growing, council has to be mindful of these challenges.

“Investing in infrastructure to support growth as well as maintaining our current infrastructure will be a priority. Fiscal responsibility is another priority for me. We need to be mindful to balance spending with tax. The choices we make today determine what kind of future our children and grandchildren inherit 20 and 40 years from now.”

Hamilton described herself as a person with integrity, thoughtfulness common sense and a good listener.

“I’m excited about the future of our city and I would be honoured to serve another term on council.”
