Emergency crews, including Chilliwack Search and Rescue responded to a drowning call at Peach Park around 3:30 p.m. Friday (July 21).

The person was reportedly out of the water on the south side of the Vedder River, and CPR was administered while waiting for emergency responders. Chilliwack Search and Rescue was paged out and responded by boat. Land-based emergency responders couldn’t reach the person from the Peach Road/Rotary Trail side of the river, and headed across the Vedder Bridge to Vedder Mountain Road to try and gain better access.

Chilliwack Fire Department engines 1 and 4 along with B.C. Ambulance eventually reached the patient and took over CPR while waiting for the arrival of a BC Emergency Health Services helicopter. No word yet on the condition of the drowning victim.

More info as it is available.
