Chilliwack RCMP investigate fatality on Highway 1

Chilliwack RCMP are investigating a death that happened under the Vedder Road overpass on Highway 1 Monday morning (Aug. 28). Around 3:15 a.m. police received a report of a person laying in an eastbound lane, and officers arrived to find a female who was dead.

As the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Service (FIS), the Chilliwack RCMP and the BC Coroners Service started investigating, eastbound traffic on the freeway was re-routed to the Vedder Road off-ramp and re-entered the freeway at the Vedder Road on-ramp.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld while police notify next of kin. Meanwhile, RCMP are asking anyone who was in the area during the early hours of Monday morning to check for dash cam footage.
