Mission has a new park.

The Donatelli family recently sold the property at 29485 Donatelli Avenue to the city for the purpose of dedicating it as park space “in order to protect it for generations to come,” according to the staff report.

Mayor Horn said the property has a heritage home, and a “very old and fragile church” – though the latter structure was never meant to be permanent.

“While this property was predominantly I believe acquired for its wetland potential and its habitat, it also does have some heritage value,” Horn said, directing staff to come back to council on how to proceed.

Coun. Danny Plecas said it was “exciting news,” and asked if there were any capital expenses going towards improving the site.

Staff said no set plan has yet been made for the undeveloped space.
