‘Coffee with Council’ sessions to start at local Mission coffee shops in 2022

Mission council looks for better dialogue with public through informal meetings

Mission’s mayor and councillors will be holding informal meetings with the public at local coffee shops in 2022.

The meetings, dubbed “Coffee with Council,” will start in January and each will be attended by three of the city’s elected officials.

On Dec. 6 council voted to start holding these monthly sessions to maximize the opportunities to have an open dialogue with the public.

The sessions will take place at local coffee shops, including but not limited to Grab-a-Java, The Penny, the Energy Wisdom and Tea Lounge, English Tarts and Amazi.

They will vary in length based on the coffee shop’s hours. Some will be held on weekday evenings, and some on Saturday mornings and afternoons.

A rough schedule showing which months each councillor and the mayor will be speaking at was released on Dec. 20, but it is still subject to change.
