Larry Nundal

POLITICAL AFFILIATION: Proud member of CRMG

EDUCATION: Background in building science

OCCUPATION: Retired member in good standing, Building Officials’ Association of BC

RESIDENCY: Mission, 35 years

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Presently a mission councillor, 3 years.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Countless volunteer hours since retiring in 2005 advocating for community members on matters relating to municipal affairs; including those wrongly persecuted by the dreaded public safety inspection team. As a strong supporter of the “aging-in-place” philosophy, assisted seniors in making modifications to their homes so they could do just that. From 2006 through 2010 I was for the most part the only member of the public in attendance at the finance committee of council budget deliberations.

ISSUES:

  • Continue on with leading Mission into a debt free future.

  • Continue on the path of ensuring Mission’s finances will be saved and spent in ways the keep the tax base sustainable for the taxpayers, striving to keep expenditures in line with the rate of inflation and the rate of growth.

  • Continue the required and necessary maintenance of Mission’s infrastructure. Pay now or pay dearly later.

  • Continue to champion downtown revitalization as a business and family friendly community asset.

  • Continue to champion the development of the West Stave Tourism project, your interpretation forest, and park to make Mission the lower mainland’s premier nature and recreation destination.

  • Continue to actively work to have Mission continue to be the most business friendly community in BC.

  • Continue to work with our seniors to see a permanent Seniors' Center built.

  • Continue to champion volunteerism by working with Mission’s volunteer base and organizations that provide Mission with effective and valued services in a fiscally responsible way.
