Emergency personnel respond to a crash on First Avenue around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

One lane was closed to traffic on First Avenue between James and Grand Streets as emergency personnel attended to the driver of a silver Pontiac vehicle who appeared to be in medical distress, according to Mission RCMP.

Witnesses, say police, saw the vehicle was being operated in an unsafe manner before crashing onto the south side of the sidewalk. A good Samaritan also broke the passenger side window with a hammer and managed to pull the keys out of the ignition before it could go through the fence.
