UPDATE: Police confirm that suspicious incident on Mouat Drive was a ‘misunderstanding’

This vehicle was suspected of being involved in a suspicious incident on Friday (May 7) on Mouat Drive in Abbotsford, but police have now confirmed that the man was a delivery driver trying to make a delivery.

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) has confirmed that a suspicious incident on Friday (May 7) on Mouat Drive was a misunderstanding.

The APD reported that a 14-year-old girl had been waiting for her ride, when an unfamiliar vehicle pulled up and the driver told her that he had been sent by her mom to pick her up.

The girl turned and walked away, and the driver then parked nearby for a short time before driving away eastbound on Mouat Drive, police said.

The APD has since confirmed that the man was a delivery driver who had been attempting to make a delivery in the area.

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is investigating an incident that occurred Friday (May 7) in which a driver tried to persuade a 14-year-old girl to get into his car.

The incident took place at 10:22 a.m. on Mouat Drive. Sgt. Judy Bird said the girl was waiting for her ride, when an unfamiliar vehicle pulled up and the driver told her that he had been sent by her mom to pick her up.

Bird said the student turned and walked away, and the driver then parked nearby for a short time before driving away eastbound on Mouat Drive.

The man is described as South Asian and in his 40s to 50s with short dark hair (with some grey) gelled back, a receding hairline, a round face with some wrinkles, and no facial hair. No clothing description is available.

Bird said the man also spoke with an accent and had poor English.

The vehicle is described as a grey, four-door, sedan-type vehicle. There is an “N” on the back beside the licence plate.
