Drugs seized at Mission Institution

Correctional Service of Canada officers found $18,900 worth of contraband

Mission Institution correctional officers caught an inmate trying to bring drugs into the local prison Nov. 21.

Staff seized 92 grams of heroin, one vial of hash oil, one gram of pot and four ecstasy tablets; the institutional value is $18,900, said an institution press release.

The RCMP was notified and the institution is investigating.

The Correctional Service of Canada has set up a telephone tip line (1-866-780-3784) at all federal institutions to provide an additional source for receiving information about illicit activities in prisons.
