The Mission Fire Rescue Service (MFRS) attended a fire that broke out in a detached garage on Henry Street in Hatzic on Thursday night (Feb. 2).

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the garage was fully engulfed in flame and a house was also in danger of catching fire.

“Crews did a great job of saving the two threatened structures,” said MFRS Chief Mark Goddard.

Firefighters from three stations were dispatched to the scene, with the first team being comprised of paid-on-call personnel due to career firefighters responding to another emergency in Stave Falls.

The Mission Emergency Support Services team, along with their support dog, was deployed but the family wasn’t displaced. An investigation into the fire will be conducted.
