With all the talk during the Mission civic election about needing more resources for public safety, one incident showed that the system can work well.

The Record received a photo and a few details about a rescue that happened on Oct. 15 in the Silverhill neighbourhood.

A child was injured and needed to be airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

The air ambulance landed at Wren Park on Wolfe Street.

One area resident who didn’t want their name used said the first responders handled the situation well.

“My main concern was recognition of the quick and complete attendance of our first responders from all types and their efficient, compassionate and thorough service at all times,” the person wrote.

The child apparently is going to be just fine, the neighbour wrote.
