Four bikes stolen from Mission home

Two recovered on the same day, others remain missing

A Mission family was surprised to find their garage door opened Monday morning and their four dirt bikes missing.

“Someone broke into our garage,” explained Lana Albertson, who lives on Blueberry Drive with her husband and two young children.

Upon examining the area, Albertson said the person appeared to have entered the locked garage by breaking one of the wooden panels on the garage door and crawled through.

“We didn’t hear anything,” she noted.

Albertson and her family climbed into bed around 10:30 p.m. and didn’t know what had happened until her husband woke up at 5 a.m. Monday morning to go to work. The family dog also didn’t make any noise throughout the night.

“I feel violated,” said Albertson. “It’s unnerving to know people were in your house while you were sleeping.”

Two of the dirt bikes were not in riding condition and were found nearby, however two remain missing.

“Those two bikes don’t belong to us,” said Albertson, who explained she was storing the bikes temporarily for a couple of friends.

The two missing vehicles are described as a 2001 Yamaha YZ250F with distinct red rims, and a 2001 Yamaha YZ246F with brand new white and blue plastic.

Albertson said the bikes were not locked because she thought they would be safe in her garage, but now she will take further measures to prevent another theft.

“We don’t know if these people are dangerous,” she said. “Nobody thinks people will break through a garage door.”

Mission RCMP confirmed the bikes are still missing. Anyone with information about the missing bikes is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
