Four local organizations will receive over $128,000 in grant money for environmental and public safety initiatives.
Community gaming grants will provide $62,000 to Mission Search and Rescue Society, $37,250 to Mission Environmental Stewardship Society, $19,000 to People Ensuring Animal Care Exists (PEACE) and $10,000 to Fraser Valley Humane Society.
Abbotsford-Mission MLA Pam Alexis and Maple Ridge-Mission MLA Bob D’Eith say the grants will allow the organizations to protect local ecosystems and keep people safe.
“Grants like these provide crucial support for so many essential organizations in our community” Alexis said in a news release. “Whether it’s improving animal welfare, environmental protection or public safety, these organizations make our community better.”

Mission Search and Rescue receives the funding for public safety work, while the other organizations receive the grant for environmental initiatives.
“Not-for-profit organizations work towards a safer and more sustainable future for both the people and the animals in our community,” D’Eith said. “It’s great that our government is supporting their important work so they can make the community a better place for current and future generations to enjoy.”
Community gaming grants provide $140 million per year from gaming revenue to support nearly 5,000 not-for-profit organizations that deliver services to people in B.C. communities.
