The COVID-19 outbreak at The Residence in Mission is “still quite limited in terms of transmission,” Fraser Health said in a teleconference on Dec. 4
There are currently two staff and two residents from the retirement home infected, said Dr. Victoria Lee, president and CEO of Fraser Health, adding that one resident has died.
“In terms of overall [cases] we’ve had since Nov. 7, when the outbreak was declared, there were three residents ever, and four staff that had COVID-19,” she said.

Lee said there have been no further outbreaks at Mission Memorial Hospital, which sits adjacent to the site. The hospital had an outbreak in mid July, which initially led to five positive cases, including one traced to Tabor Home in Abbotsford.
Tabor Home is currently the site of B.C.’s largest long-term care home outbreak, with 147 cases (89 residents and 58 staff) and 21 deaths (all residents) since Nov. 4.

There have been two other outbreaks at similar long-term facilities in Mission. Two residents were infected at the Chartwell Cedarbrooke Retirement Residence on April 1, and one staff member tested positive at the Chartwell Carrington House Retirement on Oct. 13.
Both of these outbreaks have been declared over.
