A Mission business has been making donations to local hospital staff, schools and a non-profit during the pandemic.

“Since 1992, Fraser Valley Building Supplies has been a mainstay in Mission, and they continue to be an active partner in the community to this day,” reads a Jan. 5 news release from the business.

“From the large to the small – Fraser Valley Building Supplies continues to help.”

Beginning in March, 2020, Fraser Valley Building Supplies (FVBS) started providing overnight dinners to staff at Mission Memorial Hospital, as well as reaching out to their families as they worked overnight.

In September, customers were encouraged to make small donations in store to support Isthmus Canada dropping off food to children from Dewdney Elementary, Deroche Elementary and Mission Central Elementary schools as part of the Rona Heroes campaign.

The Lowe’s Canada campaign would match 50 per cent of whatever was raised in store, up to a maximum of $2,000.

They also provided building supplies for the Carnival event at Mission Central Elementary in 2020, and this year have helped out with a special kindergarten project at the school.

In lieu of a formal staff event this year, the staff at FVBS decided to donate funds to SARA for Women instead.
