The 27th annual British Columbia Historic Motor Races will happen Aug. 16-17 at Mission Raceway Park.

This race is the largest vintage event in Western Canada and draws about 100 historic and classic racing cars and as many as 3,000 spectators.

For 2014, the popular Hagerty Formula Festival returns with the quick, open-wheel purebred racing and sports racing car. The plans for the 2014 race also include a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Japanese sports cars in Canada with several participating in the racing as well as a Sunday afternoon parade.

Always popular with classic car enthusiasts who display their fascinating cars in a special area, known as “the Field of Dreams” creating a unique show of its own. Adding to the festival atmosphere are the many sponsors’ booths offering everything from automobilia and artwork, to automotive product displays. The food concessions, informative track-side commentary and excellent grandstand viewing, all make this an entertaining weekend for families as well as long-time enthusiasts.
