Lockdown lifted at Mission Institution’s medium security unit

Life at the Mission Institution’s medium security unit is returning to normal.

On Monday (March 21) a lockdown – put in place at the medium security unit on March 8, – was ended after an exceptional search was completed.

According to a press release, a “number of unauthorized items” were found during the search.

The release goes on to say the institution has resumed its normal operations and visits to the institution have also resumed.

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is strengthening measures to prevent the entry of contraband into its institutions in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
