A 19-year-old man was shot at but was not injured Monday afternoon in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said police were called for reports of shots being fired at about 1:20 p.m. at a residence in the 3600 block of Heritage Drive – located east of Mt. Lehman Road and north of Blueridge Drive in west Abbotsford.

The home is located a block north of Dave Kandal Elementary, although students are currently on the Christmas break.

Bird said a 19-year-old man had arrived at the residence and, as he was walking to the door, someone in a white SUV fired a gun at him, and the vehicle sped off. The man was not injured, but a vehicle in the driveway was hit.

Bird said the investigation is in its preliminary stages and, although the motive is not yet known, the attack is not believed to be random.

She said investigators remain on scene and are canvassing the area for video and additional witnesses.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or who might have surveillance or dashcam video is asked to contact the major crime unit at at 604-859-5225 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
