Man escapes from Ferndale Institution

James John Jackson has escaped from Ferndale Institution.

A warrant has been issued for James John Jackson after he and another man escaped from Mission's Ferndale Institution.

Jackson and William Joseph Ballan were discovered missing from the Dewdney Trunk Road prison during the 11 p.m. head count. Ballan was caught shortly after and returned to the institution.

Jackson is 31 years old, stands 5'11" tall and weighs 216 lb. He has blue eyes and brown hair, and the initials "AJ" tattooed on his upper left arm, and "Rachel" on his right forearm.

He is serving a six year, one month sentence for perjury, possession of a substance for purposes of trafficking, escape lawful custody, obstruct public/peace officer and unlawfully at large.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asking to call the RCMP at 604-826-7161, or 9-1-1.
