A number of Mission businesses have suffered smash and grabs lately, prompting local Mounties to encourage owners to take measures to protect their property.
Over the past week, RCMP have responded to several business alarms, and found the front door smashed in by a rock.
In each incident, the suspects allegedly stole a number of business items.
Police have the following suggestions:
• Keeping store fronts and open spaces well-lit.
• When closing businesses for the evening, empty out cash drawers, and leave them open, so that they can be seen from outside to be empty.
• Protect any glass with polycarbonate sheets, bars or roll-down covers.
• Make sure that all entrances to the business are under constant visual surveillance.
• Install an alarm system.
There are no suspects at present, said Cpl. Sharon Siluch.
