Mission Canada Day party at Fraser River Heritage Park

The annual community celebration starts with pancake breakfast

The biggest birthday party of the year is quickly approaching.

Canada's 146th birthday will be celebrated at Fraser River Heritage Park starting with a Mission Heritage Association and Rotary Club pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

The official flag raising ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m., while a special presentation by visiting delegates from Mission's sister city, Oyama, Japan will happen at 2 p.m.

With performers and activities for all ages, the Mary Street park will be transformed into a world of red and white fun.

A logger sports show, dog agility shows, hay wagon ride and petting zoo are just a few of the events and activities families can enjoy. Food vendors will be onsite for those needing a midday snack, and there will be music that will keep you rockin' with the valley's own Mother Mayhem and Little Wild.

Groove N Tonic will lead straight into dusk and the Northern Lights Fireworks Spectacular.

Admission to the event is free, and put together with help from the District of Mission, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire and more.
