The co-pilot who was in the Northern Thunderbird Air Beech King Air 100 that crashed in Richmond Oct. 27, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night at Vancouver General Hospital.
Matt Robic, 26, was one of nine people aboard the plane when it suddenly plummeted onto a busy Richmond, B.C. roadway and burst into flames.
That fire caused burns to 80 per cent of his body and killed 44-year-old North Vancouver pilot Luc Fortin.
Robic had been in the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital since the incident..
The plane had only been in the air for roughly 15 minutes when an oil pressure indicator light came on. The plane turned to return to Vancouver International Airport but lost control and crashed onto Russ Baker Way within a kilometre of the airport.
The aircraft had been bound for Kelowna.
There were seven passengers on Flight 204, along with Robic and Fortin, and all have since been treated and released from hospital.
Robic had been working at the Prince George airline since last June and had roughly 1,400 flying hours.
Friends and family of Robic had been planning a burger and brew fundraiser for his rehabilitation just before news of his death. Neither the family, or the airline, were prepared to speak to the Record.
