Some last-minute support helped save the day for some Mission students.

Students at Cherry Hill Elementary were set to go to the pumpkin patch for a field trip but as they arrived for school, they found out that their field trip was in fact cancelled due to the poor air quality last week.

Some quick-thinking parents jumped into action to turn this disappointment around. With the help of Kenny, the store manager from the Mission Real Canadian Superstore who generously gave a gift card, along with parents donations, the group was able to purchase 85 pumpkins.

The parents then loaded up their cars with pumpkins and headed back to the school to unload onto the school field ready to surprise the kids with a mini-pumpkin patch. Each class was outside for five to 10 minutes to pick their perfect pumpkin.

This whole event was put together in less than two hours and wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for some caring parents donating their time and money, accommodating staff and most of all Superstores donation and supplying the pumpkins.
