An unfortunate chapter in the Mission Library’s story will come to a close next week.
The Fraser Valley Regional Library’s Mission branch will reopen on Monday (Jan. 9) after flooding caused the location to close its doors for two weeks.
A pipe burst at the Second Avenue branch over Christmas weekend and damaged carpets, furniture, walls and baseboards on the east side of the library. The water impacted the meeting room, staff room and library work room but no books, computers or other library materials were ruined.
“It made a bit of a mess,” library manager Deborah Kendze said. “I’m not sure of the measurement, but when you walk, it splashed.”
The library worked closely with the restoration company and the city to repair the damage and reopen the space to the public.
