Halloween is supposed to be a time for spooky fun, but things turned violent at one Mission home on Monday night.
At just after 10 p.m. on Halloween night, Mission RCMP officers arrived at a duplex in the 32000 block of 7th Avenue in response to a 911 call from inside the residence.
They arrived to find two injured people – one seriously – after an apparent melee.
“The caller explained a disturbance was taking place inside the home, with several people present at the time and requested police assistance,” said a Mission RCMP news release.
Officers entered the home and quickly located an adult male who was unresponsive and appeared to have head injuries as well as an adult female who appeared to have minor injuries.
Paramedics arrived at the home and transported the unconscious male to Royal Columbian Hospital for further treatment. The latest update from police is that the man is in stable condition and will remain in hospital for some time.
The female victim received medical care and was released a short time later. A youth male located within the home at the time of police arrival was arrested without issue and faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm and transported to Mission cells.
“It is believed at this time, that those in the residence at the time of the alleged assault knew each other but investigators from both our general duty and serious crime units are continuing to investigate trying to piece together what may have led to the two adult injuries,” said a news release. “The residence will continue to have a police presence as investigators finish processing the scene.”
Anyone who may have information regarding the events above, are encouraged to contact the Mission RCMP, investigative file 2022-12915 refers.
