The hotly contested race to be mayor in the City of Mission is done and the incumbent has been re-elected by a large margin with a win for Paul Horn.

Horn ended up with more than double the number of votes than his two opponents combined.

Here’s the final results:

Incumbent Paul Horn:4419

H. S. Kenny Braich:1758

Dustin Hiles:412

Horn, who won the mayor’s seat in a 2021 byelection, said it will nice to have a full four-year term as mayor to get things done.

“It was evident the community was paying attention to what council was achieving and valued our experience,” Horn said as the crowd assembled at city hall applauded his victory. “It’s really reassuring.”

Horn said that the city’s previous strategic plan was a little too broad, but now council can be more focused in its goals.

“I think now we can be more focused,” he said. “It’ll be nice to have four years with one group.”

In 2018, according to the site Civic Info, the Mission voter turnout was 31.7 per cent, well below the average of 35.6 per cent.

Mission has just over 30,000 eligible voters out of more than 41,000 residents.
