Mission placed third in the entire province for the national ParticipACTION Better Community Challenge, logging nearly 7 million minutes of activity.

While North Vancouver took B.C.’s most-active community crown, Mission was a top 50 finalist in Canada, ranking among the top two per cent.

Over 20 local schools and organizations took part in the competition which spanned across the month of June, logging participants’ work-out minutes.

“Nearly 400-million minutes were tracked across Canada during the duration of the challenge and the Mission organizing committee would like to thank all residents who took the time to participate and track their minutes and hope they will keep the momentum going throughout the year. Residents can still use the app and track their activity,” said Stephanie Key, the municipality’s deputy director of parks, recreation and culture.

North Grenville, Ontario was crowned Canada’s Most Active Community, and will receive the $100,000 reward.
