Mission Raceway Park is cancelling its weekend activities due to record temperatures expected in the coming days.

As temperatures are believed to climb as high as 40 degrees, staff said they can’t ensure everyone’s safety.

“We cannot ensure the safety of our staff, racers, and spectators. Heat stroke is imminent without adequate shelter, and we were planning on setting up a cooling booth but we don’t have the relief for the guys on the starting line,” reads a Facebook post.

“Please know that we did everything we could to make this weekend work as we wanted to be out there as much as you.”

The race park was restricted from having races over the last year and a half, and opened for its first race on June 4.
