Mission RCMP found more than they expected when they executed a search warrant last month.

In the mid-morning of Feb. 23, the Mission RCMP Street Crime Unit – with the assistance of other Mission investigating teams including  RCMP Police Dog Services, Emergency Response Team and Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement  – attended a property in the 35,000 block Dale Road in  Mission to execute a search warrant for an investigation of an unlicensed marijuana grow-op.

After searching several out buildings, investigators located a sophisticated and well established butane honey-oil extraction lab.

These types of drug labs are for making marijuana derivatives (known as shatter) and pose a great risk to the public.

Butane is a highly flammable/combustible solvent that is illegal to use when making marijuana derivatives.

A male was located on the property and was taken into custody. Charges against the male are still under investigation.

Police continue to investigate the extent of the illegal operation as more charges are expected to be forwarded.
