Mission RCMP are warning motorists about distracted driving, and having a little fun at the same time.

The local detachment posted a photo on its Twitter account telling people not to drive while playing Pokemon Go.

It states that a rare Pokemon has been sighted in Mission and shows a picture of a police officer. It then says “Not sure if you want to catch this one” reminding motorist of the $543 fine for distracted driving.

Pokemon Go is an augmented-reality game launched in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Japan earlier this month. It arrived in Canada two weeks ago.

The game sends players into the real world to search for the mythical digital pocket monsters known as Pokemon, who appear on screen when users hold up their smartphones in various locations at various times of the day.
