UPDATED: Mission schools, UFV closing due to weather, road concerns

District announced that all public schools are closing early, parents should try to pick up kids

​Mission school district has announced that schools will be closing early today due to the snow fall.

The school district website states “Due to worsening road conditions, the school district is implementing a soft closure. Elementary buses will begin student pickup at approximately 12:00 pm. Middle and Secondary pickup to follow. Staff will remain at school until all students are picked up.”

The University of the Fraser Valley is also closing today. In a press release sent to the Mission Record, it states:

“Due to severe weather and deteriorating road conditions across the Fraser Valley, all classes and activities at all University of the Fraser Valley campuses will be cancelled starting at 12:15 pm today, Friday, Feb 22. Buildings will be closing shortly after this time for the rest of the day with very limited access.

“If you have made arrangements for a ride, please gather and wait at the locations below:

Abbotsford Campus – the Spirit Bear Café (formerly the Road Runner Café) in Building A or in the Atrium in the Student Union Building (SUB).

Chilliwack Campus – Atrium of Building A or the north entrance of the Trade and Technology Centre (TTC – Building T).
