Mission schools receive playground funding

Christine Morrison and Deroche elementary schools are getting money from the provincial government

A pair of Mission elementary schools will be getting provincial money for playground funding.

Announced late last week, Christine Morrison and Deroche elementary schools will receive $39,000 and $13,000, respectively.

The parent advisory councils at these schools are being refunded for recently purchased equipment. The two Mission schools were included in 102 elementary and middle schools across B.C. getting this money.

School districts were asked to identify schools that have recently purchased playground equipment with the help of PAC-raised funds, which would be eligible for up to $50,000 in reimbursements under this program, read a government press release.

The next and final phase of this program will see approximately $3.6 million being distributed across B.C. for playground upgrades, repairs and replacements. High priority projects identified by school districts will be considered for funding next fiscal year.
