UPDATE: More than 400 homes still without power in Eastern Fraser Valley

Early-morning winds knocked out power to thousands in Fraser Valley, Abbotsford hardest hit

Kent was the hardest area hit in the Eastern Fraser Valley with 263 customers without power, accoring to BC Hydro.

Strong winds knocked out power to thousands of BC Hydro customers throughout the Eastern Fraser Valley early Saturday morning.

More than 400 customers were still without power just after 9 a.m. on Dec. 10.

Kent had 263 customers affected, according to BC Hydro’s outage map. Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission were also hit. About 170 customers were still without power in those areas at 9 a.m.

Earlier in the morning on Dec. 11, Abbotsford had thousands of customers without power, but most of it had been restored by 9 a.m.

Crews were on-site or assigned to all of the outages in the Eastern Fraser Valley.

Other parts of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island were also without power.
