Nearly 13,000 Mission homes without power

Saturday afternoon's wind storm brought down dozens of trees across power lines

A wicked wind storm that brought down trees across power lines Saturday afternoon left about 13,000 Mission homes without electricity for hours.

Many residences are still without power as of Sunday morning, and BC Hydro crews are working throughout the region to repair the damage.

All three Mission Fire/Rescue Service stations were called into service Saturday, along with North Fraser Fire Department, for reports of wires down, or electricity arcing from downed high-voltage lines.

District of Mission public works crews were dispatched all across the municipality, barricading roads until hydro could arrive.
