Fences will be installed at two district parks. A split rail fence and shrubs are destined for the off leash dog area at Centennial Park. The fence will border Grand Street to the west, 14th Avenue to the north and Taulbut Street on the east.

A split rail fence and shrubs are destined for the off leash dog area at Centennial Park. The fence will border Grand Street to the west, 14th Avenue to the north and Taulbut Street on the east.

There will be openings on the south side to allow access to and from the area.

The total cost of the project is $24,580.

Other fencing options were also looked at, like chain link, post and rail and galvanized steel mesh, but split rail was determined to be the most suitable.

Galvanized steel mesh panels will be installed along the bottom of the Spirit Square to address safety concerns in the area.

Earlier this year, the district heard concerns that members of the public could be injured if they fall on the riprap below the tiered bench seating area. The project will cost $23,200.

Council also directed staff to look into placing concrete planter boxes on both ends of the fence.
