Provincial health minister Adrian Dix will be in Abbotsford Friday for a primary-care announcement

Abbotsford could be set to get a new primary-care health clinic over the coming months.

Health Minister Adrian Dix will be in Abbotsford Friday morning for what the provincial government described in a news release as “an announcement on increasing access to primary care for people in Abbotsford and the surrounding area.”

The Ministry of Health has frequently used that wording in advance of announcements of urgent care centres. In an interview with The News earlier this week, Dix suggested that an announcement about urgent care could be coming soon.

The province has been rolling out such clinics for more than a year. The facilities are for people with non-life-threatening health problems who need to see a doctor within a day or two, but who don’t need to visit an emergency department.

Watch The News for more details on Friday.
